Activity offered at Le Collège Français de Montréal
The campaign is very pleased to have been received at Le Collège Français (http://secondaire-mtl.collegefrancais.ca) in Montreal to offer an awareness workshop to fight stereotypes and raise students’ awareness of hate acts and radicalization leading to violence.
Through the “Mission on Mars” workshop from the Educator’s Guide (http://etsijavaistort.org/en/educators-guide/) a discussion with the students made it possible to make links between stereotypes and prejudices and their consequences (profiling, discrimination, racism, hatred). In addition, through case studies, students were able to better understand the nuances between different manifestations of hate (crimes, incidents, hate speech) and lead to discussions on freedom of expression.
This awareness workshop allowed young people to express their opinions on sensitive subjects and to reflect on the different ways of expressing themselves or arguing while respecting the dignity of others and the different opinions.
